Black-Tailed Deer of Monte Verde

September 30, 2021
Black-Tailed Deer Family Aug 25, 2021
Monte Verde Park Rocklin CA

By the end of August young Black-Tailed Deer fawns are starting to loose their spots. This group often will spend several days in the area then follows the the wildlife corridor east or west in search of food. As the months pass the reddish color of their summer coat will change into a grayish brown to blend in as the seasons alter the surrounding vegetation. The young buck in the video below is just starting to develop the base or pedicle where new antlers will grow, but not until next year.
